Bert Winters Park Paddle - LOCATION/FORMAT CHANGE-SEE DETAILS FOR DOWNWINDER

It's 'winter' in South Florida therefore it can be windy at this time of year. Since we know the forecast for tomorrow (strong north winds), I'm changing the location and format of this paddle to take advantage of the wind. Instead of cancelling the tomorrow's meetup, we can have more fun!!! This is a great way of taking advantage of the wind instead of just cancelling the meetup.

We're going to do what we call a 'Downwinder' in Hawaii. We'll start at one point further north (Burt Reynolds Park in Jupiter) and paddle south with the wind at our backs to our destination at Bert Winters Park in Juno Beach off of Ellison Wilson Road. This will be a fun paddle because we will have a strong wind at our backs for the entire paddle.

The only thing that is a little different is the logistics. This is how a downwinder works. A few people with vehicles that can carry at least 4 people if not more will meet me at the destination point at Bert Winters Park at 8:45am. We will need to leave 3 or more cars at Bert Winters Park in Juno Beach and do the short drive up to Burt Reynolds Park in Jupiter. Everyone else will meet us at Burt Reynolds Park. We will launch from Burt Reynolds Park in Jupiter, paddle south with the wind behind us and end up at Bert Winters Park in Juno Beach. Once we're done, one person will volunteer to stay back with the boards to keep an eye on them. Everyone else will go back to Burt Reynolds Park. If you rented a board from me, you will then head home. If you brought your own board, you will get your vehicle, drive 5 miles south to Bert Winters Park, pick up your board and head home. It's not hard at all and a lot of fun! Explaining it is the most difficult part :)

To make this work, we will need 3 preferably 4 or 5 volunteers. 3 volunteers to meet me at Bert Winters Park to leave a vehicle and shuttle folks back to Burt Reynolds Park and 1 volunteer to hang out in Bert Winters Park to stay with the boards until people come back with their cars to pick up their boards. This sounds more complicated than it is. It is a lot of fun so hopefully this will work out. PLEASE CHANGE YOUR RSVP IF YOU CAN'T COME. I have been looking at the weather and tides in detail and I'm going to do it one way or another :) I loved doing downwinders in Hawaii. See you tomorrow at Burt Reynolds Park at 9:30am unless you are volunteering and then I will see you at Bert Winters Park at 8:45am.

Paddleboard or kayak rentals are available for $30 for members and their guests. If you haven't paddled before and want to join the group, please plan on attending our Fabulous First Timer events for new paddleboarders on another day. This is an intermediate paddle and IS NOT for first time paddlers. If you have your own board; a donation towards meetup costs is greatly appreciated.
