Conserve and Conquer 3 - Hollywood Sports - Limited Paint Games

UPDATE:

Today is the last day to prepay for Conserve and Conquer III to take advantage of the discounted rate and also to prepay for paint so you can get out and play sooner!  We highly encourage you to do this so we can all get out and playing ASAP and maximize your paintball dollars!  Many of you have prepaid already (thank you) if you can't prepay please bring cash on the day of the event.

I'm going to transmit funds received so far to Giant before close of business today so if you haven't transmitted please do so no later than 3pm today Friday 9/27.

If you need my direct paypal payment address it is [masked] and don't be surprised if the receipt comes from paintball-grenades.com which is another project I have going.

Limited Paint Games:

50 balls per match only.

Let your accuracy do the talking!
This has been a successful format that allows for constant movement and tactics every game. We had huge turnouts from our C&C 1 and C&C 2 events. Our group honor system has worked in ensuring fairness.  Our members adhered to the limited ammo rule.  Refs and our organizers are also keeping a watchful eye but nobody has had to be ejected yet for cheating and we hope to keep it that way!

ENTRY:

Prepay to save and to get your wristband ASAP!

Prepay via PayPal to save $5 on every entry and to get a free raffle ticket. (Raffle prizes include T-shirts, neck protectors, paint, and some other surprises).  Must be present to win raffle prizes.  When you prepay - if your paypal account name is different then your meetup member name please drop me a note in the paypal transaction or shoot me an email to let me know (brian k).

You MUST be on time if you want us to get your wristbands etc. and to get you out playing on the field as soon as possible.  We will have pre-printed wrist bands ready for those that prepay and we won't make folks that prepaid and arrived early from playing on time in order to wait for those that did not.  You can join the next game when everyone comes back off the field. It's just not fair to those that come early and prepaid to get the most out of their day.  If you are late and miss registration you can still pay in the pro shop if you say you are here for Tin Man's private group "Conserve and Conquer" but you will have to wait in line with everyone else etc.

COSTS:

Prepaid Entry + All day air via PayPal plus one free raffle ticket = $25

Cash Price on the day of the event = $30

Single Raffle tickets = $1 cash the day of the event

RENTALS - $35 rental package includes Entry, All Day Air, + Gun, hopper, air tank, goggles/face mask/ammo belt with two pods for paint.

Upgrade to discounted vest + pod pack rental at $5 instead of $10.

NOTE: If you are a Hollywood Sports Member then there is no cost to you for entry.  You come and sign in as you would normally and get your own wristband and air.  You CAN take advantage or our paint pricing and buy with us to save some money.  You can also buy raffle tickets and we encourage you to do so to support our group.

HSP is FIELD PAINT ONLY. NO OUTSIDE PAINT ALLOWED AT HOLLYWOOD SPORTS PARK.

The good news is, we will purchase SC paint at my CHEAP sponsored rates:

*A case of 1600 yellow SC Hardcore paintballs for $30 + tax (mid-grade paint that's designed for most markers and works in mag fed guns also)

*A case of 2000 silver SC Evil paintballs for $40 + tax (premium tournament paint with brittle shells designed for higher end electric markers)

We recommend that perhaps you get together with others to share cases of paint and split the costs.

I'm also willing to buy some at these rates to sell by the bag as well (let me know what you want so I can get an idea of the interest and also the amount to buy in advance so we can get out playing sooner):

$30 + tax at 9% ($32.70) for Giant Mid Grade Yellow case of 1600 (4 bags of 400) $10 a bag for 400

$40 + tax at 9% ($43.60) for Evil Silver case of 2000 (4 bags of 500) $14 a bag for 500

Let me know if you want to prepay for paint and we'll get that secured with Giant the day before (I know there was an issue at our last event and we've taken steps to correct that).

Be at the park AT or BEFORE 9am (especially if you are paying the day of the event or need rental equipment).

Hoppers and Pods and Paint Handling:

We recommend you try to bring your own 50 round hopper if you have one or are able to buy one.  If you don't know where there is a local shop in your area then let us know and we can help you find one.  Call them and see if they have 50 round hoppers available.  I have a limited number available for rent/sale.  They vary in price from $5 to $8 depending.  We're not trying to make anything on them just cover our costs and buy more so we continue to have them available for these games.

Some Examples of 50 round hoppers

This is the Gen X Global available from many shops and also online retailers for about $5

This is the Allen Paintball APP Hopper also available at many shops and also online and through Allen Paintball directly.

This is an older style (this one is brass eagle) but there were many manufacturers and can still be found online.  They are inexpensive and the shape actually comes from a one quart oil container.  We used to make these ourselves before hoppers were widely available so if your industrious you may want to try to make one yourself.  It can be fun and tie you a bit to paintball history.

This is the Winchester hopper.  These came with actually some very inexpensive guns a long time ago that never really took off but it is one of THE most popular 50 round hoppers out there for pump players so if you can find one on ebay or something it is definitely worthwhile to try to pick one up!

All of these hoppers can benefit from some mods.  Some as simple as sanding the feedneck of the hopper to fit or feed better.  Others include adding flip open lids from other pods or hoppers or speed feeds.

Since our games are limited paint per round...we recommend you bring a paintball hauler or a spare pod out on to the field to leave on the side line (we often leave them just with a ref) so you can refill between rounds.  Because we don't need to refill as often on air, we end up being able to play some fields back to back to back so being able to reload is very nice.  Here is an example of one and they are also great for filling pods as well.  For $20 it's one of the best paintball investments you will make...I have two...I actually like the Valken brand one over the one in this pic:

Some things to know about Hollywood Sports.

1) This is a nice facility with real bathrooms (not porta-potties) with working sinks.

2) They sell drinks like gatorade and soda.  We would recommend water and gatorade to replace fluids and salt lost playing.  They also have a grill and sell food like hamburgers and hotdogs and the prices are reasonable.  There is also a pretty good taco place across the street.

3) Field Chrono limit is 275 fps or below if you want to tune your personal marker before coming.

Things you may want to bring.

1) A lock for a one of the lockers in this picnic area to protect your valuables while playing as the parking lot is not easily accessible once in the park.

2) Water to keep hydrated.  We recommend you start drinking water the night before and at least an hour before playing.

3) Food if you don't want to buy food at the field.  HSP has a sports grill and there is a taco place across the street that's pretty good.

What to do when you get to the field.

1) Park and come in to the field and walk around behind the spaceship you see in the pictures below and the picnic area is in the back there to the left past the chrono station.  Grab a locker (bring your own lock or you can buy at the field but they are cheaper at Home Depot etc)

2) Fill out a liability waiver to include your name (first/last) birthdate etc and turn in to me. Nobody gets a wristband without a completed waiver.  If you have a membership at HSP then you don't need to fill one out.  Otherwise, you do.  When in doubt...fill one out!  Encourage others to do the same.  You can find more info and directions to the park at http://www.hollywoodsports.com/

3) If you're self equipped we ask that you go get your gun chrono'd and that you help others that may need to do the same.  We're usually willing to share some air and cheapo paint to help folks get through Chrono and while we're working out getting folks field paint and rentals.

4) If you need rental equipment we ask that you come early and have cash to pay for rental equipment as it goes a LOT faster.  We also have some loaner equipment within the group in limited quantities.

This is a pic of where we usually meet.

If you have any questions please direct to myself or Tin Man regarding payments.  Else, you can ask general questions in this meetups page and any organizer or other members can assist you.  There are no refunds for prepay as we advance those payments to Giant directly in order to have wristbands, refs, and other resources reserved for our group.

We look forward to being shot at by you!

(Note: our banner is below which we will have up as well)

I am going to SC this Sunday (10/6) for some walk-on (and wipe off!) adventures if anyone wants to join me. I would be open to HSP as well if that is the preferred place....let me know! I won't be able to play for a month or maybe two after this so join me in my last hurrah!

I was introduced to paintball by Brian and Tin Man about a month back. I have not looked back since. In the process of getting addicted to Paintball, I have also come to know so many of you and have made great friends. Conserve and Conquer was a first of its kind for me and I loved it! I will have great memories till the time I am back and playing with you all again!
Kerry, I will miss being shot by you :p

Great participation and sportsmanship at all levels. We had no complaints and things went smoothly due to the dilligence, expertise, and dedication of our organizers. Even the staff at the park commented that we were the most organized group they had ever seen.

Can we have a hopper that holds more than 50 and only use 50 balls? I am a HS member. I am interested but am unable to commit 100% until later this week.

    September 25, 2013

    • Tin Man H.

You can use any loader. The rule is that you personally only load in 50 balls, and play a match without any other pod. Honor system, but we do check.

Hey if you guys ever want to list an outing with just whoever wants to show up your always welcome to create an event on our site...when 3 or more of you commit to go then it gets announced to the group. We'll be listing when we go on Friday nights for those that want to come join in the same way...no prepay, private games, or anything fancy just folks that want to play together.

      September 25, 2013

  • Restie D.

Another suggestion is to buy a bunch of 50rnd loaders (they are only $5) and rent it out to people for that day. We have them give $5 as insurance. If they give it back the end of the day, great, they get their $5 back. If not, they just bought it.

This might have been asked but do we prepay through paypal or something, or do we pay when we get there?

    September 20, 2013

We're getting setup to be able to sell from giants website...worst case we'll use our meetup paypal account if the giant site is not up by weds latest.

      2 · September 20, 2013

    • Brian K

More on this Brent - prepay through paypal is available now through this site for a discounted rate. Else, you can pay the day of rate in cash at the event. Show up early to avoid delays in getting out to play and bring cash. We highly recommend you prepay so you don't have to wait to get processed etc.

      September 25, 2013

  • Sean H.

Great suggestions on the 50 round hoppers however I highly suggest getting any of them except the Gen X Global 50 round hopper. I have had nothing but trouble with those and have heard many cases where they just feed terribly. It may be cheap, but the quality reflects that. Try any of the other ones, winchester is my personal favorite and following that is the APP 50round.

    September 24, 2013

    • Sean H.

Yeah definitely, I'm just saying if you're at a shop and you see a GXG 50 round and a APP50 round, I'd go for the APP50 round.

      September 24, 2013

    • Brian K

Yup...but they are cheap if people don't want to spend much and if you don't over fill them and sand the feedneck they feed ok.

      September 25, 2013

  • Ronaldo H.

Will there be a discount on paint? Do we rsvp what brand & # of cases?

    September 24, 2013

I have a question. Being a limited amount of 50 ball per game, how does it affect the schedule. Does HSP play 2 games per field, or do you just move to another field for 4-6 games before heading back? I suspect the game will be shorter, so do you get 20-30+ games a day? I would like to split a case with someone, but if you guys actually play double, or triple amount of games, how much ball do you use for the day?

    1 · September 10, 2013

    • Brian K

Yes, the main air station is right next to where the entrance to all of the fields is. Hollywood is very centralized. Given that we're limited to 50 rounds per game, you may only fill your tank (depending on size) once for the whole day!

      September 20, 2013

    • Steve

That's pretty spot on with filling up once. When I play pistol only ill go through maybe 400 rounds max in a day and fill my 68/4500 tank once!

Yes you can use any gun, any hopper, any setting for this event but only get 50 rounds per game. I recommend you use semi auto so that you don't run out of ammo too fast but that's entirely up to you.

      September 20, 2013

  • Ronaldo H.

SC paint sucks beyond compare. I've been playing for over 15 years & shot all kinds of the cheapest ball I could find. All other ball can still have a shelf life as long as you rotate the ball & keep in a cool place. I have been able to keep ball in good condition for even a year! I was out for the weekend & when I came back, my 3/4 case of SC ball is nothing but e solid blocks of ball. Unbelievable! I can't say I will ever pay for SC ball again.

    September 3, 2013

    • Brian K

To follow up on this...Tin Man and I DID sit down with Gio (Giant Sportz Owner) Saturday and discussed the issues we had both paint and in registering users at the last Mech Warrior Game. It is our commitment to you all not to allow that type of thing to happen again. We have a commitment from Gio to make our group ambassadors for Giant and our members to always have a "VIP" experience. Those details are being worked out further but he has committed to us to get behind this group 100%. He LOVES us and the fact that we're completely organic/grass roots. We've created a lot of buzz and Giant keeps having people contact them about how they can join us. What does this mean for us? A better play experience and lots of support from the largest parks and park owners in Southern California. That is a testament to what we've done! More to come on this as we lock things down but we will continue to bring you the best experiences in the area! Thank you all for being a part of that!

Oh yeah Brian, do those "special rates" include paint prices?

      September 16, 2013

  • Steve

I'm assuming the answer to this is yes but not positive.

I heard they're going to stamp a "Decay" logo on the paint. Think they'll give me a hard time? lol

      September 16, 2013

Oh Decay... Now I'm not so sure.

I will spend time this week to secure and update the pricing of C&C 3. Then work with Giant to have a direct online payment system for our members in order to streamline the check in process.

No more $ complaints on HSP please, as the park is a GREAT place to host a private group. I've hosted dozens and dozens of private games there since they first opened, and always had the best times. I'm sorry if any of you still have a negative perspective due to previous Walk On experience.

I get special sponsored pricing on entry/air/rentals if needed PLUS over 30% OFF all levels of paint. A case of premium Evils will even be less than store pricing. TOO LOW to post online. Pricing details here from my last HSP event:

Definitely. We encourage new people to experience paintball in its pure form with our friendly group.

Can we please figure out a system for getting all the payments, etc. I'm sorry fellas, but 11:30 is wayyyy to late to start playing.

I am coming to the same conclusion. We have more than enough willing members to commit to a private game. Now if everyone can make a Paypal commitment early, then our registration process will be smooth.

Us 5 organizers, we have a group message thread on Facebook that we use to keep in touch. I will discuss more with head honcho Brian as only he has final access to MeetUp's Paypal account. Or if Brian is still held up with work in September, I can use my personal PayPal account.

Tin Man and I are working with Giant on this and yes the prepaid option and field paint usually get us out playing the soonest. We had a few issues with paint that slowed things down last time as well. Anytime field paint is involved things are a bit slower but we'll work to improve that. We can use everyones help in getting waivers signed to include ALL required fields (some folks forgot teir birthdates and that also slows things down) and also in getting everyone chrono'd some of us have our own chronos as well so if folks need some extra tuning on the day of that won't slow us down as much. We may do a prepay again using paypal or Giant may have us setup in their system as well by then and we can sell direct but we will do better as we always do! Last C&C we were on the field playing by 9-9:30 at the latest!

On the last C&C event, I noticed at least one person seemed to be shooting more than the 50 ball limit. This was towards later in the day, and maybe we got some stragglers from outside our group. One suggestion maybe as we walk in to the field, as the ref checks for wrist bands, he also checks for limited paint. At least just on the big loaders.

Even the first C&C at the very end...last game or two of the day this did crop up as well. Please report for sure to the organizers and refs. We will do the best we can and for our regular members we ask that you keep a watchful eye and let us know as well. Please don't confront people directly but if you let us know we'll talk to anyone suspected. For the most part it went well but we do take that seriously! And we do count on our regulars like you Restie! Thanks!

I need to hydro my tank. My tech is $25, but he's not always reliable. AA paintball by me is $35. Anyone have any other suggestions for the San Gabriel Valley?

    August 29, 2013

    • Brian K

San Gabriel Valley is tough...a few shops have closed in the past year. Used to be Splatter Monkeyz in Eagle Rock...they closed several months back but the owner I think may still take tanks for re-hydro. I'll ask Also, another suggestion I have is swapmytank.com you can send in and have them do it or have them give you credit for another new or used tank. Critical Paintball and Time 2 Paintball may be other options if your willing to drive a bit...else...not sure if General Joes does it.

I played at HSP on Labor Day with Carlos, K and Kerry.. it was fun and I loved it. Look forward to this event on the 29th. Might be be out of town till the end of November after that, but will ensure that I play with you all after that. Will look forward to Walk Ons as well, so if any of you all plan to, then pls hit me up :)

Thanks Tin Man for introducing me to paintball... I am addicted now.

What's the total cost to rent the equipment needed to play paintball? Including all fees.

      Sweet!

9-4pm is the usual hours of the majority of parks. I like HSP because it opens until 9pm on Sunday, and 10pm on Saturday. We get our private referee for 6 hours. You can play Walk On after that until the cows come home. They have stadium flood lights. Night time play with shadow is a totally different experience.

What's Up Everybody! I'm new here and don't know absolutely nothing about besides the fact that is isn't a cheap sport lol That being said, can anybody recommend or hook me up wit some beginner paint ball sets? Thanks in advance!
