What we're about
This is a group for parents of music students and for parents of toddlers and preschoolers who will be exploring the music field. It is designed to help and train the parents to introduce their children to learn the basics of Musical Language and Piano playing. It is a workshop designed to give the parents the basic tools to help their children succeed on their firsts steps on the music field. Usually both, a parent and a child, are very enthusiastic about learning music and about learning to play a musical instrument, but many times that enthusiasm fades away on the firsts classes or months, due to the fact that the child can’t carry the tasks of practicing by himself at home and the parent doesn’t have the tools or doesn't have any idea of how to help him. This meetup/workshop is intended to train parents to help their children with these firsts steps in music and teach them how to help their children with the assigned home-practice.
I am a Music Teacher specialized in little kids. I studied on a Music Conservatory since I was 6 years old and validated my Certificate in a U.S. University 9 years ago. I am also the mom of a 5 years old adorable boy. As a mom and a Music Teacher for more than 20 years, I'm totally convinced and very passionate about the benefits Music brings to every single person, especially to youngsters. Music helps to develop fine motor skills, improves the ability to see patterns, improves the overall body-mind coordination, helps to develop memory capacity tremendously, helps in making quick decisions, it develops sensitivity, it contributes to the overall individual background education...and we could go on and on underlying the immense amount of benefits that learning how to read music and play an instrument brings to the individual, needless to mention the contribution to the community and whole society. I realize the urge to start teaching my son the basics of Musical Language, to start training his ear and help him to understand the musical concepts early in life in order to educate his musical preferences and make him willing to play a musical instrument in the near future. I would like to share this fun-learning time with other parents and kids to encourage each other, to promote discipline and devote a time exclusively for this. The idea is to get together for 30-45 min and share music activities with our children at the time the parents learn how to help them at home in the future, once a musical homework is assigned. I will be teaching the parents to do and play everything their children are expected to do/play on the assignment or later, when they start taking their formal music classes. This way, parents master a task before the child masters it herself. As these meetings have the format of a music class-workshop, our group will be meeting once a week for a limited time of one regular month (4 sessions) and with a limited size of 12 parents per group. After 4 sessions, the group will be renovating constantly with a new group of 12 different new parents, whom will have the opportunity to be exposed to the parenting advise in Music, leaded by a professional on the field for the entire total of 4 sessions. After one month, the group will be renovated again. Those who are interested in continuing the ‘workshop-classes’ after that time, will have the opportunity to pay a considerate price for formal music-workshop classes.
