Hi there, Welcome to PARK LIFE DRAW! My name is Lauren, I am a visual artist who made the move to Brooklyn last year. I hold a BFA from California College of the Arts, San Francisco, CA (Painting & Drawing) and an MA from Royal College of Art, London, UK (Painting).
In an attempt to meet new folks in my neighborhood, I decided to start this meet up group! I have taught life drawing courses for the last several years and I really enjoy being outside and connecting with people (especially in beautiful Prospect Park). Meetings will begin in the warmer weather. We will be working from life and since this is a donation based community class we will be using each other as models! Each class will have a different theme. Since we are in a public park, modeling will not be done nude but please wear a bathing suit or fitted exercise clothing if you are up for modeling, to help show anatomy.
There is NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY for these classes. The vibe will be very relaxed and friendly, welcoming all levels from complete beginners to advanced artists.
I teach traditional techniques of draughtsmanship alongside alternative approaches and experimental exercises, with a focus on personal feedback and friendly guidance. My sessions encourage participants to make mistakes and have fun with drawing.
Please bring your own drawing supplies and paper/work surfaces. i.e. Pencils, erasers, charcoal, pastels, water based paints, markers, crayons, chalk, paper, board etc.
Come join me! We meet at the back of the Picnic House in Prospect Park where the restrooms are.
Suggested donation of $10 per class. Payment is not necessary, no one will ever be turned away for lack of funds.
