I've always wanted to be one of those ultra chic women who wears all black, smokes fancy cigarettes and can rock a beret. But since I'm not and never will be, I've been on the hunt for a great jazz club so I can at least pretend to be.
Which brings us to Barbes. I recently read about this club on some Brooklyn blog who said it's a great place to hang out and listen to great music.
On Wednesday 10/23 they have a show scheduled that I was thinking of checking out. Please note there is a $10 cover charge.
"THE PALIMPSESTIC SERIES, CURATED BY OSCAR NORIEGA. Every Wednesday. $10.
DOMO DE NIBE. "Domo de Nibe" is an Italian jazz sextet made up of the most talented "Nuoro Jazz Workshop 2012" musicians, who were all awarded a scholaship to set up a new music project together. They've been composing and rehearsing for the last 12 months. The band's repertoire includes both originals and standards, ranging from experimental to latin jazz. Their debut CD (produced by Ente Musicale di Nuoro in Sardinia, Italy) will be out in 2014.
with Alessandro Pardi (voice);Giaime Mannias (flute);Davideo Guiso (trumpet);Alain Pattitoni (guitar);Christian Pepe (bass); Giovanni Angelini (drums)+ guests"
I was thinking of meeting at the club at about 7pm so we can all try to sit or stand near each other, get a drink and chat before the show starts at 8pm.
