Don't put away your devil horns or angel wings just yet...
So the Czech Republic and other Slavic countries celebrate St. Nicholas Day in early December (December 5th in the Czech Republic). It's a unique holiday and I say it's a good enough reason to have a happy hour.
Czechs celebrate the day by dressing up as one of either three characters--St. Nicholas, an angel or a devil. They go door to door and the parents tell the visitors if their young children have been good. If they're good, they get chocolate from the angel. If they're bad, and this is true, the devil puts the kid in a bag and says, "I'm taking you to hell!" only to let the kid escape at some point and run back to the house.
So let's drink to the psychological scarring of children at a local Czech and Slovak bar. Read more about it here (http://www.myczechrepublic.com/czech_culture/czech_holidays/saint_nicholas.html) and here (http://www.stnicholascenter.org/pages/czech-republic/). Costumes encouraged!
