Had a great time today! Everyone was very supportive and the more experienced people didn't hesitate to walk you through a move. UCLA has some very versatile architecture that we made good use of. Couldn't stay for the whole day, but I imagine the group covered a lot of ground. Def coming back!

    March 30, 2013

  • Jason Patrick B.

I'm all amped up for training! Just a note, guys. A photographer is coming with me, and she wants to take some pics of us in action. So, as per her advice, wear something... um... nice?... um... something you'd wanna get casted in...?
Oh well. See you there! :o)

hi all, as a first timer, just wondering what's the average age for this activity? I'm a 30 year old(barely reached) that always keep myself in good shape, and I always out run 20 year olds, am I ok to participate or am I little too old? feedback will be appreciated thx

    March 29, 2013

    • John G.

You are fine people of all age groups come. The average age is probably mid 20's. No one will make you feel shy about your age. We go to have fun not get into each others personal business :)

      March 29, 2013

    • Wind L.

      nice!! looking forward to it!

What are you guys bringing? I hear sweatpants is the norm, but anything wrong with shorts? Gloves necessary?

    March 27, 2013

    • Phillip D.

In my experience gloves are looked down upon. You "make your own gloves" by toughening your hands up, which if you look at any more experienced traceur's hands, is definitely the norm. I'd leave them at home.

      March 28, 2013

    • Moe

Monroe, I started off with gloves, and I can honestly say I was better off without them. Gloves can actually cause you more harm than good when gripping walls since your hands can move inside of them or they tear and get caught on certain types of obstacles(chain-link fences). Also, with parkour you want to be able to use all your senses. Your hands will give you more information about what obstacle you are trying to traverse than your eyes since visual textures can often be deceiving(painted brick and stucco). Some members even go barefoot.

Where are you guys going to park?

    March 29, 2013

    • Moe

I usually park at these locations:
      http://goo.gl/maps/Ws...
      http://goo.gl/maps/87...
      http://goo.gl/maps/WP...
I hope this helps, the parking lots are paid, but its LA so its expected :P

      March 29, 2013

    • Moe

the first link is really hard to find good parking and kinda sketchy to park... since its a 2 way street and very hard to parallel park and get out with traffic always being a concern

What are some basics a beginner would usually learn on their first day of parkour?

    March 27, 2013

    • John G.

Landing correctly, precision, and basic vaults are usually what everyone starts off teaching the new comers.

      March 27, 2013

  • Nicholas

    First time w/ this group...

    March 27, 2013

  • John G.

I will be there. I still haven't. Been to UCLA yet.

    March 27, 2013

  • Monroe W.

Awesome, UCLA's real close. You guys friendly to beginners?

    March 26, 2013

    • Monroe W.

Cool. Open question: do you guys learn the flips out in the real world on grass/sand, or do you learn in the gym?

      March 26, 2013

    • Parkour Los A.

Depends on the person and their experience/physical capabilities, but it's generally much better to learn in the gym with a spotter and gradually take it to sand, then grass, then concrete.

      March 27, 2013

  • Kalil

I think I'll be preoccupied somewhere in Malibu.
