Partners of Trans People is a support group for exactly that, the partners of trans people. The founder, Amanda, is a cis woman married to a transgender woman. Amanda and her wife have been together since they were both 17 years old, been married since 2009, and have a young son together. Amanda has been with her wife throughout her wife's coming out and transition. Transition and coming out is an ongoing process to which support is needed for not only the trans person, but that person's most supportive people. This group's goals are to:
Help connect partners to a supportive community
Encourage families and provide support to remain intact when possible
Share resources to trans-friendly providers (like therapists)
Engage in advocacy
This group is for partners of people of all gender identities.
Full disclaimer: Amanda is a Licensed Master Social Worker. This is NOT a therapy group. This group is for peer support. Amanda can and will provide referrals, but cannot engage in therapy. That being said, this group is also not a religious or spiritual group.
