What we're about

Deep, meditative prayer has been proven (through brain scanning) to achieve stress reduction and result in beneficial physiological changes in the brain when practiced over time. This is not intercessory prayer, but deep, contemplative prayer. It can erase depression, help grief, reduce anxiety, reduce blood pressure, improve sleep, and make our moods generally happier and more optimistic. Through prayer, God helps us bear our burdens.

Beginning Tues., February 5, 2019, Serenity Christian Meditation at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pasadena will meet T, W, and Th mornings at 8 am, and Fri evenings at 6 pm. All sessions will be 30 minutes (with coffee/snacks available). On Tuesdays the meditation will be guided prayer/meditation, led by Pastor Sharon Richter, while the rest of the sessions will be silent prayer/meditation. You may use our chairs or bring a meditation cushion if you prefer the floor.

Although the group is founded as a Christian meditation group and the guided meditation on Tuesdays may invoke symbolism familiar to the Abrahamic faiths, there will be no evangelism, and you are free to pray or meditate in any tradition you prefer. You do not need to be experienced to join in, and you may come as often as you are available. The sessions are free, though free-will donations will be gratefully accepted to pay for coffee, snacks, and the Meetup subscription.

Because we are just starting out, it would be helpful if you would email PastorSRichter@gmail.com to let us know that you are interested and will participate as available. There is ample parking at the rear of the church, located at the corner of E. Walnut St. and Catalina Ave. Serenity Christian Meditation will be part of the World Community for Christian Meditation (WCCM), which you can read about here: https://www.wccm.org/
