This is a popular holiday tour of beautifully decorated bed and breakfasts in downtown St. Augustine and is the ultimate romantic thing to see for the Christmas Holiday.
St. Augustine Historic Inns presents its Silver Jubilee Anniversary tour of over 20 downtown bed and breakfasts decorated for the holidays. Additionally, a number of museums, historical sites, and other cultural partners will be open in conjunction with the tour on both days.
Guests are given a tour guide package with a map to help them navigate the tour. Along with showing off their best Christmas presentations, the bed and breakfasts partner with some of the finest restaurants in the area to provide delicious food and drink throughout the tour. Each inn partners with one restaurant or culinary specialist, so the samplings are representative of the best each individual local restaurant has to offer.
Tickets are good for both days of the tour. The price is $45.00. Visit here to purchase tickets.
The Saturday tour features bed and breakfasts on the south side of the downtown area, while Sunday's tour showcases the inns on the north side of the historic district. This is a self-guided walking tour. Each day, the inns are grouped into distinct geographical areas to keep the walking to a minimum, and there is also an option to hop on the complimentary Old Town Trolley shuttle. Though the shuttle doesn't stop at every inn, it makes several stops at strategic locations along the route to provide guests with a break from walking. The Trolley shuttle will operate from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. on every day of the tour.
Star and I will be departing Friday evening for St. Augustine, and we will be staying at the Scottish Inn (10 San Marco Ave, St Augustine, FL 32084 -(904)[masked]). Cost of a room will be about $54 each night. This is a clean and “no-frills” hotel within the old city. Once you park you do not have to move your vehicle again.
There is no better way to see all the B & B s in St. Augustine (imagine Norman Rockwell paintings) and give you an idea of which one(s) you would like to stay at during your next visit to the old city. Breakfast will be at an old 1950’s Diner each morning, so we will start our day right. You will not have to feed yourself lunch or dinner on this tour, you will have sampled so much food by the tour end each day, you will be full. Star and I generally go to the main park area by the Christmas Tree and enjoy the lights, the crowd, the music, a cigar, and get into the holiday spirit.
We encourage you to book a hotel as soon as you can if you plan on going to this ride.
We will meet any riders that desire to ride over with us at the WAWA Gas Station located on Hwy 60 and Lakewood Dr. in Brandon at 12:00pm. If you cannot make this early of a departure, just let us know and we will meet you in St. Augustine later Friday or Saturday morning.
