I am sure all of you have heard about the seven bikers killed in NH by a truck driver who swerved into their lane. Those were members of the Jar Heads MC, and this Poker Run is in honor of them and the proceeds go to the surviving family members to help cover costs that rear their ugly head when a person dies.
It is hosted by a rare combination of Veteran Service Organizations of the American Legion, AMVETS and VFW. Rides are all to one of those posts. This is the only local event that I know of that is planned for the survivors. This ride is open to all vehicles (bikes, cars, trucks), so whatever you are moving around in, please come and show them that that Tampa area supports them. The more riders we have participate, the more money goes to those surviving family members.
Cost of the event is $10 per vehicle for one hand and each successive hand is only $5 more. The ride starts at American Legion Post #111 in Tampa, second stop is AMVETS Post #9 in Odessa, third stop is VFW Post #9236 in Hernando Beach, fourth stop is American Legion Post #186 in Brooksville and the last stop is VFW Post $6180 in New Port Richie. At the end there will be 50/50, Live Entertainment and other Raffles all to raise money for the family members. Food will be along the way, at each successive stop, the Posts will have finger food out for the riders and the last stop will have a $5 lunch plate.
Let’s meet at a new location for breakfast that is close to the starting point. The name of place is the “Three Coins Diner”, 7410 N Nebraska Ave, Tampa, FL 33604 at 8:30am. We can eat breakfast then ride down 1.5 miles to Post #111. Our KSU from Three Coins Diner will be 9:30am; KSU for the ride is at 11:00am (but we will leave a bit earlier than that). This should be a very well attended ride, so please come and represent the Patriotic Riders and let the Tampa biker community know we care.
