We departed for Bartow to see the WWII & US Air Force museum that was Bartow Air Base. We then headed to Lake Wales and to the famous Spook Hill. I do not think to many riders were impressed with the hills “magic”, but it was a great photo op. Then we found ourselves a Bok Tower gate, heading towards the tower, the landscape leading to the tower is curvy and full of orchards. Bok Tower is impressive, the walk to the top along the path is filled with flowers, plants, benches and of course up hill. We made it to the bottom of the Tower’s reflecting pool and took another photo op, then we walked behind the Tower at took in the spectacular view of Florida’s second highest point. After leaving Bok Tower, we rode Hwy 17 North (another great ride I recommend) to Blue Moon Winery. The Bistro was wonderful, service was fast and everyone’s food came exactly as they ordered it and was great tasting. After the late lunch, we decided to head back on I-4. Traffic was smooth and soon we were all departing towards our exits on our way home – another Whimsical Florida Ride in the books. Special thanks to GNOME for Tailgunner duties most of the day. And, also thanks to NUKE to end of the day Tailgunner duties (you did a great job on I-4). We had a new riding couple with us, Beth and David. You two were great to ride with, thanks for laughing with us and blending in on our riding style. Thanks to GNOME once again for his Jumper Block, BUTTA’s bike would not start at the beginning, and GNOME pulled out his box and got her going again. GILROY did not fail to have another “Mishap” on his bike, but he was prepared and took care of right away – always a laugh with him around (in a good way). MADDOG and SNOWBALL rode one bike today, they never looked more like a couple than they did walking around the Bok Tower scenic point enjoying the view and each others company. Once again, thanks to everyone that made the ride today, your positive attitudes and easy going spirit made the day a wonderful time.
