What we're about

**Non-Meetup Members attend our events by learning about them via Facebook and our website**

Are you fed up with the frustration of dieting or what is considered wellness in our society? Maybe you experience stress eating, retail therapy, or binge watching TV shows to relieve how you feel? Have you said to yourself, “There must be another way”? Past experiences are just that. The past. You can change your life now with simple shifts that rewire your recurring negative self-talk that impedes your confidence. Together in this group, we can change our thinking around food, body, wellness, and weight loss--and how we deal with stress. It doesn't matter if you need to lose weight or if you don't. If you are ready for an more holistic approach to your health and well-being, then this group is for you.

This group will get together to meet, share, support one another, and practice movement and meditation. We’ll be incorporating the following: de-stressing with relaxation techniques, exploring our thoughts and emotions, inviting in meditation & mindfulness, learning to mindfully eat, practicing gentle yoga (chair yoga too), taking walks together, and enjoying other wellness activities as decided by members of the group.

This is not a group where we will tell others how they should walk their weight loss and wellness journey. Instead, we come together simply to support one another on a peaceful path, whatever our personal choices may be and any mistakes we may make along the way. We’re here to practice loving-kindness and compassion towards ourselves and others.

The meetings will be held at my intimate studio, Meditate Madison. I am a meditation-mindfulness-yoga instructor, sound bath healer, relaxation specialist, and a mind-body-spirit coach. I admit I have weight to lose. As someone who has had other types of healing through meditation and yoga, I welcome the opportunity to share with others a harmonious avenue to nurturing our mind, body, and spirit.

MORNING: Self-Compassion

Meditate Madison

Friday, June 21st: Self-Compassion Self-compassion is a complex process, and you may not be sure how to foster greater compassion in your own life. One central tenet to the practice is taking the time to focus on yourself, so you can interrupt and correct the negative thoughts in your head. So how does cultivating self-compassion affect weight loss? • It helps get a hold on emotional eating by neutralizing feelings of guilt and shame • It replaces negative self-talk with more empowering messages that pull you toward healthier behaviors • It helps you be more mindful so you can change what you eat, how much you eat, and how you experience food More information at: https://meditatemadison.com/2019/05/announcing-peaceful-weight-loss-wellness-group/

EVENING: Mindless vs. Mindful Eating

Meditate Madison

Monday, June 24th Topic: Mindless vs. Mindful Eating Mindless eating can occur when we are eating out of boredom, watching TV or swiping our phone. This can lead to overeating or eating foods that we would not normally eat. Mindful eating means that you’re consciously aware of how you sell yourself into eating a particular food and how it actually affects your body. We will be experiencing mindfulness practices. Our sessions are drop-in and RSVP is recommended. If you have questions message or email Deb at [masked] More information at: https://meditatemadison.com/2019/05/announcing-peaceful-weight-loss-wellness-group/
