Anyone care to join me for some low impact, easy hiking under the moonlight next week in Newburyport? Moon is in full phase Tuesday December 17, current weather is slightly overcast but moderate temperatures for 5-6 mile trek around the perimeter of the park, along the Merrimack River and with a teeny little bit of elevation (~270 feet...?) in the center... You can also get some elevation by descending to the river bank and returning to the plateau via a number of trails. I've walked, snowshoed and mountain biked these trails dozens of times since 2005 and it's a great venue near all of us Massachusetts Peak Baggers.
Weekend forecast has some snow in it, but unlikely enough to snowshoe. I would recommend having them available, I'll have mine plus a couple extra pairs and hopefully we will get a chance to use them! Please be prepared for temperatures below 30 degrees, and possible winds. It would also be useful to have a source of light, i.e., a headlamp or small flashlights to have along in case needed.
It stands to reason that anyone who is interested can meet up on their own for coffee/dessert or adult beverage in town afterward.
Text or call if you have any questions, and watch this board for updates by Monday evening.
