We will meet at Whipple Landing at 10:00 am. We will not need to do a shuttle.
Due to the river levels on the Big Pee Dee, I am going to change the location and try to do the Big Pee Dee paddle at a later date.
This is still going to be a beginner friendly paddle. We can go as far as we want. Bring lunch, a snack and lots of water. Lowthers Lake is an oxbow lake off of the Pee Dee. It is just like paddling on the river but there is no current. I expect the "lake" to be high but that will not cause any problems. The birds on this water are beautiful. They love to have their pictures taken and will stand and pose for a while before flying away.
Since I went left last time, lets go to the right this time. The main complaint that I have heard for this lake is that the water is yucky. Because there is little fresh water, the water has a lot of algae and you will need to wash your boat at the end of the day. But it is a beautiful lake and very, very beginner friendly. I hope the location change does not inhibit anyone from coming.
This is a meet up paddle. You are responsible for your own actions and safety. You must wear a properly fitted PFD with a whistle. Please bring lunch, lots of water, sunscreen and a hat. Post a comment if you are running behind or can't make it so we don't wait for you. I received the comments on my phone so I will get it. Let me know if you have any other questions.
