Lets plan on meeting at Spiers Landing at 10:00 am. No shuttle necessary. Since, it will only get hotter, the earlier we start the better. So try to be a little early to get your gear together so we can hit the water paddling. :)
The plan is to do some island hopping. Jimmy will be our navigator since I struggle in that area. We plan on visiting Church Island, Pine Island, Bass Island and Sixteen Island. Maybe some more if we have time. I expect that we will paddle at least 15 miles. Bring lunch, lots of water, a snack, more water, sunscreen, a hat and your safety gear.
This is not a beginner trip and is not even an intermediate trip. I do not have the level of experience required to take beginners or intermediate paddlers on this type of a trip. I cannot stress enough how difficult this trip can be. We will be on open water and the wind can make the lake very choppy. I have been on this lake in the choppy water where: you were on one part of a wave, the person in front of you was on a different part of a different wave, and you could not see them. Self and assisted rescue skills are required for this trip. Touring kayaks are required, spray skirts are preferred. If you are wearing a spray skirt, you need to know how to wet exit.
This is a meet up paddle. You are responsible for your own actions and safety. You must wear a properly fitted PFD with a whistle. Please bring water and a snack. Please post a comment if you are running behind or can't make it so we don't wait for you. I received the comments on my phone so I will get it. Let me know if you have any other questions.
