We offer new members a 30-day period before we ask you to pay the $10 non-refundable annual dues (per calendar year and everyone renews in January). Money pays meetup fees twice a year plus other things for the group). During this time, we encourage you to attend some events and check us out. If you decide that you would like to continue then you need to pay the group’s annual dues.
Please be sure to commit to your RSVP as NO SHOWS risk being deleted from the group (especially if limited spaces were reserved or reservations were made) or you may be restricted from signing up for other events with limited space etc. until last minute if space is still open. We may count cancellations within 24 hours or less of an event (aside from true emergency) as being no shows.
The Peninsula GirlfFRIENDS group is composed of ladies from all walks of life; we're a little older - mostly in our 40s to 60s (though some are older and some younger); we work full-time and some are retired; some have husbands, some are divorced/single. We are mothers, grandmothers, and/or some have no children. Lots of different career choices as well! Most of our activities take place in Hampton/Newport News/Williamsburg (aka the "Peninsula"), but we do have events outside those areas. We are a "girlFRIENDS" group so we do not open our events to husbands, boyfriends or children. There are lots of other groups that do though! The group is designed to provide opportunities to meet other women for friendships and fun.
We plan a variety of meet-ups each month to give everyone an opportunity to meet new women friends and have fun. We schedule movies, Bunco, chit chats, bowling, local festivals, and special events like wine tastings, dolphin watching cruises, and even river cruises! We love to try new places and things. Most of our events are on weekends and some Friday evenings. We have a few events on occasion on other week nights or weekdays.
So, come on out and have some fun. We look forward to meeting you soon!
Please remember NOBODY here is an employee of Meetup and organizers/hosts are all VOLUNTEERS (with jobs, families, and lives etc. as well) and pay our dues just like the rest of you and are in no way compensated. We all just want to have fun and meet new people! This group belongs to EVERYONE and it takes EVERYONE to make it successful. Your suggestions are needed as well as most importantly your participation.
