Details

We’re doing something a little different this months light painting session, for Movember, in support of mental health! Join us at the Lions Lookout in the Perth Hills at sunset, where there is a newly painted Blue Tree for depression. Learn long exposure and light painting photography in our 2 hour workshop hosted by experienced photographer and facilitator, Lynn, and capture sunset photos, city lights photos, as well as light painting and the blue tree.

THE BLUE TREE?
Jayden painted a tree blue one night after sneaking out with his friend - wondering just how long it would be before anyone noticed the deep blue tree on the horizon. He did it out of love, mischief and friendship. After Jayden committed suicide the blue tree holds a new meaning. Each time you see a blue painted tree, use it as a reminder to check in with a loved one, a friend that’s having a rough time or a mate having a blue day.

These trees can be found around the state and more information can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/bluetreeproject.com.au

OUR BLUE TREE COMPETITION
Take 10 minutes during the session to creatively shoot the blue tree to tell a story or show something special. You are welcome to take these shots home then submit to the BLUE TREE post in the Perth Learn Photography Facebook group, by Friday 1 week after. Please post your photo along with your story behind it. The winner, decided by Lynn, will receive a VIP pass to a Perth Learn Photography session. Get creative and imaginative, just don’t damage the tree. There will be an LED light available for you to light up the tree if you don’t have your own lighting source and wish to use one.

TIMING
We've timed this Meetup for optimal shooting conditions. Minimum is 5 participants, maximum 15. We reserve the right to postpone or cancel and refund subject to booking numbers and weather.

Perfect for most photographers with DSLRs and experienced photographers wishing to explore the photography of the night, long exposure and creative lighting.

FOOD TRUCK
The Travelling Snack Food Truck is stationed at the lookout on Friday nights, if you wish to grab a bite to eat before - Lynn, Laine and Cyrus will all be there early.
