What we're about

This group will meet to read and discuss works written in Latin and/or Ancient Greek (depending on member interest). The specific texts will be chosen by the group as a whole. Do you fondly remember studying Catullus in Latin class, but find it difficult to get through on your own? Enjoy reading Homer in the original, but have no one to discuss it with? Want to keep your classical-language skills from getting rusty in a casual, no-pressure setting? Desperately need, as a matter life and death, to understand the poetry of Calpurnius Siculus? Then this group is for you.
I'm a former Classical Studies professor, with a good deal of experience teaching Latin and Greek at all levels - this group won't hold any formal language lessons, but I'll be happy to help (and I hope we'll all try to help each other) with reading or interpreting difficult passages. Any reading level beyond the very beginner, in either language, is welcome - if you're not sure your skills are up to it, come and find out!
