Do you love country music? Do you like to line dance? Do you want to learn to line dance? Anyone and everyone who enjoys country-western line dancing or would like to learn how-to is encouraged to join our group. All skill levels welcome.
On Monday, September 16, come spend your lunchbreak participating in a spirited community line dance that leaves no doubt as to why country music has become the nation’s favorite music genre. Teams from WHYY will engage passersby in multiple experiences designed to encourage everyone to embrace their inner love for country music, then to tune in for episodes of Country Music, Ken Burns’ latest documentary chronicling the history and impact of country music in the U.S.
Harry and Linda Hayden of the regionally-recognized Dance Ranch will lead community participation in a traditional, country western line dance. In addition, a country music entourage—dressed as experts from the documentary—will be on site to urge everyone to put their “best boot forward” during the line dancing, distribute promotional giveaways and encourage everyone to participate in a Country Music-themed trivia contest with a top prize of $500.
