The stereotype of a Stoic is one who has no emotions or represses them. The Stoics, however, did not seek to eliminate all emotions. Rather, they sought to eliminate only the unhealthy emotions they called “passions’. We will examine the Stoics’ views on emotions and how they tried to overcome the “passions”.
