8+ miles Class 1 Easy ( Mostly flat with good footing)
DESCRIPTION: For those of you who would like to get out and hike after morning Easter traditions, I am offering a spring jaunt in the Phoenixville area on parts of the Schuylkill River Trail and historic Phoenixville. We will meet and start out at Longford Park/ Reynolds Dog Park in Upper Providence Township and travel along the Schuylkill Canal past Lock 60 and the Black Rock Dam. We will cross over the river on the road past the Upper Schuylkill Valley Park where there is a small wildlife center. We will loop back on the other side of the Schuylkill and back to Longford Park/Reynolds Dog Park ( http://www.uptrc.com/parks-longford-park.php ).
DETAILS: Restrooms at Longford Park and Upper Schuylkill Valley Park. Bring water. Refreshments after hike (pesadich options, too!). This is a steady, moderately paced hike with short breaks. Mud always a possibility, depending on the weather.
DIRECTIONS: Rt. 422 to Oaks Exit. Come off the Oaks Exit and take a left onto Egypt Road, follow Egypt Road 1.5 miles to the intersection of Longford Road and Egypt. Turn left onto Longford Road. Follow Longford for .6 miles over the Railroad tracks and the park will be on your left with a large parking lot. If you use Google maps or Mapquest and use 1000 Longford Rd as the closest address. Rain cancels.
