Hi! The next Philly WordPress Meetup is on Tuesday, October 15. We'll be at 1776, located at 1608 Walnut Street, 12th Floor, Philadelphia PA 19103, from 6:30 to 9pm.

Mark Simchock returns as our featured speaker! His topic: A demo + Q&A of his soon to be released Brave Blocks (as well as general discussion of Gutenberg). He says:

It's official. Gutenberg is here to stay. After a shaky, if not contested introduction, it seems to have found its feet and continues to evolve and improve. The developers - core team and indie block builders - who answered the call of "Learn JavaScript deeply" for the most part seem to be pursuing the broader page-builder mindset.

Of course, there are exceptions, and Brave Blocks aims to be one of those exceptions. That is, a focus on content and the content creation and editing experience. The Brave Blocks' vision is also focused on being forward-compatible, as well as being mindful about creating design debt.

For example, a typical text-based block allows content editors to pick text color, as well as background color. On the other hand, Brave Blocks, being designer / agency-minded, can be configured to use custom pre-defined color combos. As an alpha-tester remarked, "Cool. This saves me from making bad design decisions."

Come out to see the Brave Blocks demo, and find out more about why you should be concerned about forward-compatibility and design debt.

We also want to thank A2Hosting, our sponsors, who provide financial support that helps pay for our venue. If you are looking for a web hosting company, check them out at
