Description: Here at TerraMar we believe very strongly in both giving back to our community and in being excellent stewards of our environment. I don't know about you, but it really disappoints me when I go into the wild and find litter or damage from people. So, in 2007, we started celebrating every earth day by helping out the trails we love.

Believe it or not, but when we started this tradition, no one was offering any earth day projects that actually involved getting your hands dirty. Lectures on global warming are fine. But, our members love hands on activities. So, we get down in the dirt and work our butts off to restore and protect the parks. We plant trees and remove invasive plants. We restore trails and remove litter. It's good honest work that shows a real result in the end.

Best of all, there are now a whole number of places in the Wissahickon where I can hike by and say, we planted that grove of trees or, we rebuilt that trail. Maybe one day, when I am old, I can sit down and lean against one of those trees at the end of a hike. It is great to do things that make a palpable difference!

So, once again for Earth Day, we are teaming up with the Wisahickon Restoration Volunteers to take care of our environment. We will be working with on various projects like trail reconstruction, removing invasives, litter removal and clearing vines. For anyone who has not been there before, Wissahickon is truly an oasis of nature in this big busy city of ours. If you hike in just a short ways, you will be astounded at how truly wild it feels with the tall forest canopy above and the creek running through below. We are very proud to be organizing our eighth cleanup here.

So, please come and help out.
