Join our group for a hike up Mt. Tammany and a guided tour of a Wolf Preserve.

We will meet in the early afternoon and start the day with a classic hike of the Delaware Water Gap, ascending Mt. Tammany. From the summit, there are spectacular views of the “Gap,” which the Delaware River carved into the Kittatiny Mountains. If we are lucky, we may be able to see hawks catching the thermals as we enjoy our view of the river and Mt. Minsi, across the way in Pennsylvania.

This is a strenuous hike. Although it is only 1.5 miles from the base to the summit, the trail is rugged, in places steep, and includes an elevation climb of 1,250 feet, so a hearty breakfast and some fitness are needed to make your way to the top. We will allow plenty of time for breaks and enjoying the summit. Please pack water, snacks and a lunch.

Proper footwear also is essential; do not wear flip flops or sandals for this hike. The weather can be unpredictable, so we recommend that you wear layers.

After our “warm-up” hike, we will head to a wolf preserve where you can photograph, watch and listen to packs of Tundra, Timber, and Arctic wolves. Wolf experts will guide us through the preserve and educate us on the true behavior of wolves. Our guided tour will last roughly 1.5 hours. While in the observation area, you will be able to ask the experts any questions that you may have and watch the wolves play, interact with each other and, if we are lucky, hear them howl.

Price: $29.00, includes a guided hike, admission to and tour of the Wolf Preserve, light snacks, and guides certified in wilderness first aid. .

The address and directions of the meet-up location will be provided only to registered participants. An RSVP through the Meetup site does not reserve your spot. To register, you must go to our website, http://www.terramaradventures.com. And visit the event page here and click on "register."

I don't run or bike. I did walk in Philly for 9 miles last Saturday. I was a little sore the next day, but I was carrying 2 tripods on my back and my camera around my neck. I would like to say I am in good physical condition. I try and lift at the gym 3 times a week. Yes, it is a DSLR.

One more thing, would you still be able to email me the address of where we are going? I see it is at Noon, but I would like to guesstimate my travel before committing. I will be going back to the Gap 2 weeks after this. Thanks if you can do this for me.

We will be meeting on the NJ side of the gap, off of I-80, not too far from Columbia, NJ.

Jill are you in good physical condition? RUn? Bike? we do allow time for breaks and lunch on the hike. Is the camera a large SLR or just a small point and shoot? If its a large heavy camera, You can leave behind. I am sure other hikers will have cameras and can share pics. Myself included f I remember it. I imagine its possible that your could do just the wolf portion of the hike, but thats a bit of a drive for just piece of the day.

I would really love to do this for the wolf preserve, but not sure I could make it up that steep of a mountain, especially with a camera. I haven't done that sort of thing in 10 years.

I'd love to go but I live in conshocken & don't have a car. If someone would be willing to pick me up & drop me off then I'd be thrilled to check it out.
