Hiking the Pinnacle and Pulpit Trail

  • Jun 16, 2013 · 10:00 AM

Skill Level:  6 - This is an 8 mile hike with significant elevation change. (1100 ft.)

Description: The Pinnacle and Pulpit trail is known as one of the best hikes in Pennsylvania. You will enjoy spectacular views of Hawk Mountain, the Lehigh Valley, and Blue Rocks. Rocky forest footpaths and abandoned roads follow forested mountain trails and mountain streams to a ridge-top boulder outcrop. AT thru-hikers often claim the views at the Pinnacle are the best views in Pennsylvania.

But, this is no walk in the park, you'll get a killer workout with all the climbing on the way up, and the whole hike takes about 5 hours. But, once you're done, you'll see it's well worth the trip!

Clothing and Equipment:  Hiking boots, sun block, raingear, water bottle.

Directions: Carpool info and meeting spot directions will be sent to all registrants.

Payment: Members must submit payment by check or by credit card via our website to secure a spot at this event. A "yes" RSVP on the meetup site does not secure your spot. Please visit http://www.terramaradventures.com to submit payment.

I never received an email about the meet location. This is my first event. I did pay already on the terramar website. Can somebody help me out?

I never got an email providing information about where we're supposed to be going or meeting up. Can you please re-send it?

Jenny, I resent it. If you have a problem like this again, please email me. That will ensure I know about it. Messages here can get missed.

Carl, is this a leashed dog friendly hike?

    Thank you.

This is a pretty long hike. Dogs would have to be in really good shape for it.

A beautiful but challenging hike due to the elevation and terrain. Check the weather the day of and wear layers. I think 5 hrs is a very optimistic especially for a large group. I went with another group and it took a lot longer, so I'd recommend flashlights, nourishment, and toileting supplies. It's a 1.5-2 hr ride from Philly, so body wipes, fresh clothes, and flip-flops are nice for the ride back. Bugs were not a problem but tick checks might still be a good idea.

I live in the Valley Forge area. I do not drive either - no car. So, if anyone would be willing ot help a guy out with a ride,I'd greatly appreciate it. Looking forward to meeting everyone.
