Maybe you missed it b/c there have been so many emails going around, but I previously explained how to change your email settings.  If you don't want to get any of these emails, you don't have to!  And you can still remain in the meetup group.  These emails are optional to everyone in the meetup.  And actually this is how social networks are supposed to work, people connect and communicate...and very often that's through email...or message boards, or myspace, or facebook, or whatever other means.  But email is a very effective way for people to make plans, have interesting dialog, and even debate a few topics now and then...like the purpose of meetup emails perhaps??  We're all entitled to our opinions of course, but I think you missed the boat on this one.  Just my opinion of course.

So, I'll repeat...to change your email settings:

Option#1: There's a link at the bottom of this email that says " To unsubscribe or to update your mailing list settings, click here"
Option#2: Login to meetup and go to "account" > go to the "memberships and communications" tab

On this page, you can change all your email settings and get as many, as few, or no emails at all!  And you can still stay in the meetup.  Very easy!

Oh, and I wouldn't encourage people to contact Neil or Karen.  I don't even know them but I don't think they need to be baraged with complaints.  Just change your email settings!  It's soooooo simple.

I will make a public apology right now for who ever I offended and this has nothing to do with how Neil and Karen runs this meet-up group. Actually Karen is a really good friend of mine.
 
It doesn't matter whether you have to unsubscribe or not from these emails, but there still going on a week later. I have gotten nasty emails about what I've said and I have gotten far more greater positive emails about what I've said. All in all whether its just a deletion of the email in your in box, its still annoying to receive this many emails to a group even after the event is over.
 
Any one who knows me knows I'm one of the kindest most giving people you'll ever meet. I've hosted a meet-up group also and if any ones remembers or made it out to it knows I'm the one who thru the big Super Bowl party in my Old City apartment.
 
So I apologize to everyone, but after all these emails and I'm sure some of you will be happy, I'm taking my name of this meet-up group. Amir, me and you know each other and hopefully I'll see you around still.

Hi Everyone,
I have kept to my own opinions through out these emails. I can only say what has transpired over the past few days is no reflection on how Neil and Karen run this meetup. The fact that this started from someone trying to invite some people out to bantering back and forth and calling each other names is just appalling to me and goes against all the reason I joined meetup. There is enough hate and intolerance in the world, and the fact it has some how seeped its way into a social network I just can't understand.

On behalf of this meetup I just want to say I am sorry to those of you who had to witness such negativity. I have been a member of this group for over a year, and every event has been a joy in fact I had a house party a while ago and organized it through this meetup. Every person I met was respectful and kind. I am not writing this to say who is wrong or right or even point fingers, just to say this behavior is really going against what this meetup is about.
