It's time for our monthly Elixir meeting!

## What is Elixir?

Elixir is a dynamic, functional language designed for building scalable and maintainable applications. Elixir leverages the Erlang VM, known for running low-latency, distributed and fault-tolerant systems.

* Build web applications using Phoenix.
* Craft GraphQL APIs using Absinthe.
* Deploy embedded software using Nerves.

## Details

Event opens at 6:00pm. Talks start at 6:30pm.

Food and snacks will be made available. If you have special dietary needs please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate.

## Agenda

### Elixir in Production, Owen Winkler

Owen Winkler is an engineering manager for CoverMyMeds, a subsidiary of McKesson, working remotely in Chester Springs. He employs Elixir to develop parts of their Prior Authorization platform. His team was responsible for socializing Elixir to the upper management and enabling it to be deployed in their production environment. He'll speak about selling the language into a business that doesn’t already use it, the specific technical challenges of enabling Elixir on their production platform, what they use it for today, and how effective it has been at solving the problems.

### Using Triplex to Build a Multi-tenant Application on top of Ecto, Mike Zornek

Mike Zornek is building an Elixir/Phoenix app in his spare time. He'll talk a little about his app and more specifically how he's using Triplex to enable tenant behavior at the PostgreSQL database level. This isolates client data maintaining a nice clean separation. We'll talk about the easy stuff like setup and usage and also cover some of the gotchas, like testing and Ecto sandboxes.

## Looking for Speakers August and beyond
