Tonight's kick-starter is the question, Do—or do not—the ends justify the means?" The question is always sure to spark great debate, but I humbly suggest that it may be a linguistic fiction, which is to say, that the words belie moral actualities of life. The question may equally be stated in reverse: "Do the means justify the ends?" The fact is that, most likely, if the actions (means) and results (ends) were reversed the debaters would not change their positions. Therefore, I would argue that, if this is true, the question of means and ends are overly simplistic, and does little to clarify difficult ethical decision-making.
As always, the kick-starter is not intended to dominate the evening; the conversations at our mixers go with the flow!
While I set the duration of this event at 3 hrs., it could be shorter or longer; it's just an estimate (you'll stay as long as you wish!)
No Show Policy:
A No Show is defined as someone who RSVPs 'Yes' for an event but then does not show up and fails to change his or her RSVP to 'No'. No Shows are extremely detrimental to the success of our group and are not tolerated. Reasonable exceptions, of course, may occur.
