IGNITE is Southwest Center for HIV/AIDS’ outreach project to encourage and support the sexual health of gay men and the gay community. You’ll find IGNITE’s diverse group of Community Leaders interacting with people throughout Phoenix’s gay community, distributing safer sex materials, volunteering at free HIV testing events, and talking openly about safer sex, HIV and STDs. The project’s goal is to normalize the conversation and eliminate the stigma around safer sex and HIV. Learn more about IGNITE by visiting our website at www.igniteyourstatus.org
The Phoenix IGNITE Your HIV Status Meetup Group is designed to bring the Phoenix LGBT Community together. Whether you're HIV Positive, HIV Negative or "HIV Neutral", the Phoenix IGNITE your HIV Status Meetup Group aims to host community events that bring a spirit of acceptance, awareness and understanding around HIV. Leave stigma at the door and meet others in the community who are affected by HIV in one way or another - whether you're living with HIV or simply want to be involved in the HIV community.
Isolation remains one of the biggest challenges around HIV - from newly diagnosed individuals who haven't disclosed their status to anyone in their lives, to someone who feels too embarrassed about what they did "that drunken Friday night" to get tested. This group aims to brings everyone together in a neutral, safe environment to simply meet others in the community and break down the barriers we face with HIV. Meet someone just like you who may have some insight about what they face with HIV or find a buddy to get tested with. It's a safe place to talk about HIV and IGNITE Your Status.
No assumptions should be made about the HIV Status of anyone in this group because it is designed for all. You do, however, have the option of hiding your group membership from members of other groups. MeetUp provide help with editing your profile privacy settings.
