Javascript Workshop

Join us at the library for mentorship, code reviews, discussion of best practice, and whatever coding or software questions are on your mind.

The first few minutes will be spent brainstorming topics and matching questions with mentorship, then we will split up into different groups to code or to discuss. We'll regroup towards the end to give people a chance to share what they've learned with the whole group.

If you're a beginner, this is a great opportunity to get feedback from experienced programmers. If you're intermediate or advanced, it's a great place to get feedback on your ideas and help your fellow coders out with some mentorship.

Hope to see you there!

This article on FRP came up on Hacker news. Thought Lisa (you were asking about it right) might like to read it:

Yes...we were talking about it after the meeting. This sounds like pretty cool stuff. One thing I wondered about after meeting is what happens if you attempt to do circular dependencies. Is FRP smart enough to catch that?

Question: I see a lot of books about D3.js Are companies using this library? or is it more for artistic types?

I have been using Rickshaw. It's on top of D3 and way easy. http://code.shutterst...

ok thanks.. I love the colors and shapes of D3.js but I'm worried about the wait users need to endure to load lots of data into the browser

Joe, thanks so much for your help with Heroku. Not only did you point me to the right documentation, your background explanation on these free web servers was illuminating. I wanted to let you know I spent a few hours this morning getting my SSH Keys and passphrase set up and I was able to push my example code to Heroku...WOO HOO!
