• BOOST YOUR CONFIDENCE IN UNEXPECTED SOCIAL SITUATIONS
• OPEN DOORS IN YOUR CAREER
• CREATE NEW OPPORTUNITIES
• YOU TO BECOME A SKILLED COMMUNICATOR & AN INSPIRING PRESENTER.

Does getting started feeling scary? That’s OK, you are in safe hands at Phoenix Speakers.

GUESTS are welcome to attend our meetings ** FREE OF CHARGE** until you feel comfortable to speak. No advance preparation is needed.

You can practice public speaking in a fun, supportive and low-pressure environment at our club. Every meeting we laugh and we learn from fellow members’ excellent presentations and their inspiring stories. We love having guests because they give us an audience and keep the club’s energy alive.

Our members come from all walks of life and range in age from their 20s to their 60s. Their jobs include project managers, civil servants, administrators, IT experts, charity workers, engineers, writers and entrepreneurs. In other words, PEOPLE JUST LIKE YOU.

We follow the tried and tested INTERNATIONAL TOASTMASTERS programme, which is used by 313,000 people in 126 countries. There are lots of easy ways to get up and speak in front of the group - because practice makes perfect. If we can do it, anyone can!

Phoenix Speakers is a very friendly Toastmasters Club. We use Toastmasters’ tried and tested education programme to develop our speaking and leadership skills. whilst having fun. The toastmasters programme helps members become more effective in several areas, including: -Formal presentations -Informal communication – speaking one-to-one or in a small group -Thinking on your feet -Managing and participating in meetings -Leading and managing people At the meetings there is no formal instructor who teaches you how to speak in public. Instead we learn by doing and each meeting is made up of impromptu and prepared speeches given by our members. We also learn from each other by giving evaluations so we can learn what we did well and how we can improve. COVID 19 UPDATE Due to the Covid 19 virus pandemic Toastmasters International has to respect the current advice of limiting travelling and social contact. Nobody knows how long this weir situation is going to last, but flexibility and capacity of adaptation are essential skills in life. Like most other toastmasters clubs around the world, Phoenix Speakers has decided to hold its meetings online, starting from Wednesday 25 March. We have decided to use the online meeting application zoom, which has been adopted broadly in the toastmaster's world. It is easy to use, although I am sure there will be teething problems at the beginning and it will be a learning experience for all of us. You may be wondering what is the point of toastmasters without face to face contact. Well, if you look around on youtube you will find lots of influencers that have become famous merely online. Some international firms have been using for sometime video conferencing programs to conduct job interviews and meetings. Now more than ever to have online video speaking skills will become more and more important. I am sure that at the end of this nightmare, we will all have learnt some valuable skills to help us with our careers. The link for the zoon meeting is: https://zoom.us/j/8580199974
