Sunday May 18th - Photo Walk in Union Square Park at 2:30 P.M, with Registration for One Year of Creative Cloud in end of June Drawing.
Location/Time: On Sunday May 18th at 2:30 P.M. we will be meeting near the South East corner of Union Square, to the North of the Subway entrance. See photos below. As always we will wait a few minutes for late arrivals.
To Find Us: look for RJ wearing a fluorescent orange vest, and dark colored backpack.. He will be between the East side Subway Station entrance umbrella shaped building and the Newsstand Kiosk that is adjacent to it on Union Square East. See photos below. This is approximately at 146 Union Square East 10003.
One Year Creative Cloud Prize Registration: RJ will provide a 3" x 5" card for attendees, who are members of this or any of this other NYC Adobe User Groups and/or their Meetup groups. On the card you are to print your name, email address, and contact phone number. This will be entered in the end of June drawing for one year of Adobe's Creative Cloud.
Donation: To help RJ pay for his Meetup, driving, and parking expenses, an optional donation will be appreciated by him. This is up to you. Anyone giving him a donation will have the options of placing it in an envelope with their name on it, or anonymously placing it into his backpack.
ALL Cameras, Including Cell Phones are Acceptable, No Camera Required: All members and their guests are allowed to join us for an enjoyable walk without bringing any camera with them. No one should feel uncomfortable using a phone's camera, a point and shoot, video, or pinhole camera. RJ usually uses his cell phone and/or a point and shoot on his Photo Walks. He does not like the extra weight of carrying one or more of his film, digital, or video cameras, with their interchangeable lenses. RJ usually considers the weight of everything he will be carrying. However, when RJ does take one of his cameras with interchangeable lens on a photo walk, he likes to take a small lightweight zoom lens. One that goes from a somewhat wide 20's/30's to about 80 to 200mm. In general, when he goes on the Photo Walks he leads, he does not want to compete with the attendees. He prefers showing those who are interested in doing so, how to be more creatively photographically aware of their surroundings. He usually takes his smart phone and possibly a point and shoot with him.
RJ's Text Number: Prior to leaving for MeetUps RJ emails his MeetUp cell phone number to all members who have a Yes RSVP. At the latest this is approximately 3 hours before the time of the Meetup. Should you get delayed or have to arrive at a later time, you may text him to find out where we are at. Please do not call as he does not answer the phone.
Subject to members having the time to do so, it is possible that we will also explore some of the surrounding areas. Union Square Park is located on the border of several neighborhoods with popular business, residential and nightlife destination spots, including the East Village to the southeast, Greenwich Village to the south and southwest, Chelsea to the northwest, and both the Flatiron District and Gramercy to the north and northeast.
Following the walk we will also have the option of our going somewhere in the area for a sit down, coffee, snack and/or dinner. This should be a very interesting afternoon. Union Square is a very interesting park to explore with or without a camera.
