  • Virtual - Captures of Fall
Ok, I have this re-posting every two week through to December 1, 2018. Which is kinda a pain with photos, because which one do you post too. It seems the updated version, does not let you go back and change a date. Stay tuned and post where you wish. Just make sure to include any trips you want others to join you, festivals, pumpkin and corn fields...the usual Fall events. Be sure to post here for any Fall Festivals in the Greater Austin Area. Go Solo or Group together. Thank you

  • Flora and Humminbird at Wildseed Farms
Talked to Wildseed Farm, the Standing Cypress is blooming so we are set for next Saturday 5/26. Bring your whatever camera and a long telephoto lens, preferable in the range of[masked]mm (FF equivalent) telephoto lens and also a macro lens, we will enjoy ICE SCREAM (if you don't get your photo of the day, at least get a nice ice scream :-) and lots of photo opportunities. We can have a group lunch at the West End Pizza around 1:30pm, take a street photography at Fredericksburg and I might returns to the Wildseed Farm for another round of photo opportunities with a late afternoon sun...if you can stand the heat :-)

Every year, this an awesome venue to capture all cars. April 5-7, 2018. Free Parking, $15 entrance. I know kinda pricey, but you literally have hundreds of cars to photograph. Each year I go, I still never see everything, in a day. Pick projects to photograph:: Grills, hood ornaments, reflections, rat-rods, just the classics, abstract, etc...folks even have brought models (just always ask the car owner first). I didn't put an ending time, so you can post your best and share here. This way, folks can ooo and awwww, then get ideas! At any event car pooling is encouraged, even though parking is free. Comment below to set-up if a group wants to go. Have fun and jump out of your box, trying something different when shooting.

  • Farewell to Hope Gallery
Let's get together and shoot Hope Gallery before Demo Day, tentatively happening in June.. Originally referred to as Graffiti Park, Hope Gallery has become an iconic Austin landmark. Whether you've frequented the site many times over the years, or never been, let's grab some images before it's gone forever. RSVP for March 31st whether you can make it or not and add images past, present, and up to demolition day, to the album. If adding images from the past, please include the date of the image. It will be interesting to see how the art has evolved over the years. Plan to arrive early before the morning light gets harsh. Let's shoot for a couple of hours and then meet somewhere for breakfast. Below is a link with information about the plans for the new location: https://www.mystatesman.com/news/local/austin-graffiti-park-demolition-approved-relocation-the-works/uaTGxx4a62ucPDgm3bAj1M/

Photowalking the SXSW, March 9-18, 2018, is always entertaining each year, for Street Photography. Yes it is crowded, but that is part of the appeal. Go anytime you would like. https://www.sxsw.com/ We will walk down Sixth Street (eat) and back to the Driskill (is great to Photograph). Then head over to the Capital Building. Interior/Exterior is fantastic at night. I haven't shot there in a couple years. The Interior closes at 9 pm. We can meander as a group or go on your own. Or go anytime during the Festival. Parking will be a pain. There are parking areas by the Capital and walk down. Convention Center is always a good spot. Whichever you pick, plan on walking....a lot. Then again, Metro Rail, offers extended hours and it is free parking at terminals ($7-10 round trip) and waaaaay cheaper to ride it, than parking fees downtown (Expect $20 or more). Or dealing with traffic and pedestrians.

  • Rodeo Austin
Rodeo Austin last for two weeks. I didn't put an end time. If I do you cannot upload pics until after the ending. March 10-24, 2018. Parking is $10, car pooling is encouraged, split 4 or more ways makes it cheaper. You can purchase tickets online or at the entrance. https://rodeoaustin.com/ There is plenty to see and do. Carnival mid-way, Rides for long exposures, critters four and two legged everywhere (NO this doesn't include the Rodeo itself. They generally say NO photography). So bring your camera, bring your tripod, be ready to experiment and have fun. FYI, behind the barn area, the rodeo contestants warm up. I have gotten some great shots there. Pick a night or day that works best for you, and post your best shots here to share! Use this space to arrange times for a group to go!
