What we're about
The Photographic Arts Society, (founded in 2004), provides a network of fellowship for individuals, both amateur and professional, interested in enhancing and expanding their photographic skills as well as those who appreciate photography as an artistic expression. The goal is to foster interest in photography and to provide an open forum for members to enhance their skills. The focus is on film and digital photography, and all art appreciation.
Photography enthusiasts of all skill levels from all areas of Chicagoland are invited to join. Monthly meetings, (3rd Thursdays 7p) are held at the University of St. Francis campus at 5 E Van Buren Street in downtown Joliet. Monthly meeting programs include guest speakers and workshops on a variety of topics such as film types and antique cameras, and photography exhibitions by local artists and club members. Field trips to museums and galleries and special photography events are also provided for the group.
Our annual Photographic Arts Society Walter A. Sharp, Jr. Memorial Scholarship is a significant part of the PAS mission in promoting the art of photography and helping promising students pursue their study of photography.
