For those members interested in filmmaking- I'm offering a workshop on working with audio for filmmaking on Sept. 6 in San Jose. This course is free. Our meetup group is: http://www.meetup.com/Video-Arts-Academy/ LOCATION SOUND MIXER Class description This course is all about capturing high quality dialog on the set. It is ideal for those wishing to learn all about the audio process. No previous knowledge of audio capture or filmmaking is required. What you will learn: The nature of sound. Different recording methods. Audio equipment and how it is used. Microphone characteristics and use. Recording techniques. The course consists of on screen presentation and live demonstrations of sound equipment and use. After completing this course you will have a firm knowledge of how to capture high quality sound when shooting a project. Class logistics Location is Joyce Ellington Library, 401 East Empire St., San Jose, CA. Cross streets are North 10th and North 11th St. Class is about 3 hours long with frequent breaks. There is a great little Mexican restaurant right across the street for refreshments. Plenty of free parking in the library parking lot or on the street. No parking meters. Bring paper and pencil. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to get good photos! If you've got a moderately priced camera and a desire to learn, your photos will be forever changed after this class. And, the class is fun! The class is $76 and there is an additional $15 materials fee payable to the instructor at class for a DVD of the entire lecture with graphics and additional supporting documents.
