Two days of creativity and camaraderie in a charming Inn on Cape Cod in the coastal town of Sandwich, with an emphasis on capturing, editing and post processing techniques.
Join us for a few fun-filled days in a comfortable meeting room where the focus will be on getting together to create new images or turn those chosen images on your computer into amazing photographs. Do you have thousands of images waiting to see the light of day? Would you like to devote a few days to optimizing your workflow, creating original still lifes, editing your images, getting feedback, and seeing what possibilities are out there to make them better? Would you like a second set of eyes to review your work?
Different software options will be explored (most, if not all, software can be downloaded on a trial basis) as we play, learn and share in the digital darkroom. This creativity workshop will be facilitated by Amy Davies with contributions from all who attend to help and support each other. The process of creative exploration AND sharing will be encouraged.
We will have set ups to photograph and edit images.
Create and photograph a still life work of art that makes you proud.
Macro or abstract images will be covered.
Add new techniques to your photographic options, play with light and texture.
Time permitting we will cover as much of the following as possible:
Instruction using Adobe post processing software, Lightroom, Photoshop CC2015 and/or Photoshop Elements. Google NIK software or Topaz.
Photoshop Brushes: download and use creative brushes to add birds, trees and other elements to your images.
How to create your own unique signature brush.
Adding textures for artistic effects.
Adding Fall color using Lightroom.
Painting effects through the use of creative plug-ins such as Topaz Impressions.
Using in camera multiple exposure effects to create an artistic look.
Start a Flickr account, a blog, an Instagram account or other social media option.
You will be post processing your own photos on your laptop (or desktop) using the software you have on your computer and learning how to do it efficiently to achieve a beautiful finished image.
This 2 day creativity workshop is designed to get your creativity flowing, giving yourself time to work on your photography and to have fun in the process. We will be doing some shooting in the morning and evening weather permitting, and during the day we’ll be sharing, playing, and enjoying ourselves while we're learning new software and processing techniques. The workshop will conclude with a celebratory slideshow of everyone’s finished images (your choice) on the last day.
You could leave with many finished images you love that are ready to print or post online. We'll help you upload them to a printing website so they can be shipped to your home.
An elegant, comfortable Hotel in Sandwich is the setting, a perfect place to spend a weekend in winter with fellow photographers. The charming Cape Cod town of Sandwich is right out the front door of our hotel. Walk to the Dexter Grist Mill, Sandwich Glass Museum, Churches, shops, antique stores, the Cape Cod central railroad, charming restored homes, and even a Tea Room. Sandy Neck is also close-by. 5 minutes away is the iconic Sandwich Boardwalk, The Cape Cod Canal visitors center and marina.
We hope you can join us for what promises to be a fun learning event. Bring your images that have been tucked away waiting to be processed, or make new ones, and your laptop and let’s see what we can create together!
