Dec Montly Meeting - Depth-Of-Field & Passion

My name is Adam Czuprynski, and I am local "semi-pro" photographer and full time engineer based out of Lake Mills, WI. I have decided to become a co-organizer of this group and lead the Monthly December meeting. We have a large group of photographers and I think we can really make this something that can benefit everyone greatly.

At the beginning of the meeting of the meeting I will be giving a short presentation about depth-of-field and how you can control it for your own artistic vision. While this technique is far easier and more dramatic with a dSLR, there are still some tricks you can do with your point and shoot. If you have a prime  lens for your camera bring it with you, if you don't pick one up. For most cameras you can pick up a 50mm prime for $75 or less, and if you have never used one before it will open up a whole new world of photography for you. As one more little reason to find a prime for your camera, it will play a part in next months technique. ;)

At the last meeting we talked briefly about having panning as our technique, but I think that this months theme should be passion. We all take pictures because it is something we love to do. What do you love to take pictures of? Think back to why your first started taking pictures and show me your passion.

The format for this discussion will be a bit different than in the past. I would like you to pick your six best pictures from this month to present to the group. We will view all the pictures, then you will talk briefly about your favorite, the group will pick their favorite and tell you why, and then we will pick a photo a give some constructive critiques on how it could be improved. This format gives everyone a chance to show off their stuff, while recieving some helpful critiques as well.

If you plan on attending this event please email me your six photos a few days before the meeting and I will prepare a slide show of the pictures to expedite the meeting, and ensure that everyone gets to show their work.

If you have any questions concerns of comments don't hesitate to shoot me an email.

Please add your six pictures to the Madison Photography Meetup Group and I will get everything together for the meeting.

Hi everyone, I enjoyed the meeting. I think Adam did a great job putting everything together. You provided us with some great information. It was also nice to hear different photographers perspectives & learn how you created the different shots. I hope to make it to the next meeting

Adam, I enjoyed the equations! Did not understand them but with your explanation I... Oh! who am I kidding, I still don't understand them. Seriously now, I had a great time listening to everyone and how you organized the meetup and how you kept us on track - Great leadership.
Thank you for your time and effort. Looking forward to the next one, Alfredo.
