There has been continued interest in programs for manipulating your digital files. Lightroom is one of the best all around programs for photographers, and it is on sale through Adorama right now.

Those of you still using Picasa or something similar should seriously consider this upgrade, as it gives you significantly more power, while maintaining all of the organization features.

I purchased lightroom under this sale. I need some tutoring! Post Processing is not one of my strong points! Anyone out there really really good with lightroom 3? The cataloging portion is very important to me.

Hi David, I use Lightroom at the beginning of my post. I have found this site to be a good place to learn: http://tv.adobe.com/p...

For cataloging I use Canto Cumulus, the single user version: http://www.canto.com/...
Phaseone has a good cataloging product too, Media Pro 1 photo manager: http://www.phaseone.c...

If your photo collection is small then Lightroom will do fine. Lr is not a DAM (Digital Asset Management) like the ones I mentioned above. Media Pro used to be a Microsoft Product, it was sold to PhaseOne recently. Of the two, Cumulus is more mature. The current version is 8.5.

There is also an excellent book on this subject: The DAM Book: http://www.thedambook...

Hope this helps.

Looks like the Adorama website might be sold out, of Lightroom 3, but you can get it for a few dollars cheaper at Amazon.com - they appear to still have some in stock....

Here is another way of buying Lightroom: if you have a student ID, a kid that has one or know someone that has a student ID then you can use that ID to buy the Academic version of Lightroom for a fraction of the cost, that would be $74.95. This is the way I bought Lr version 1. Later, I upgraded from the Adobe website. There is no difference between the Academic and the commercial version.
You can also get Photoshop for a very low price.
There are many places where yo can buy, this is the place I like: http://www.academicsu...

I need training also. The online tutorials help, but each time I want to do something I need to stop and look for a tutorial. A basic step-by-step course would be fantastic. Do we have someone in the group that can do this?
