Photoresk - Berlin Photography

Let’s welcome spring in Berlin on a Photowalk in Volkspark Friedrichshain. Grab your DSLR, your point & shoot or your smartphone and join us for a visit in Berlin’s oldest park. There are many sculptures and monuments on our way, the Peace Bell and some idyllic ponds with islands for ducks. Wildlife photographers are recommended to bring their zoom lenses to take some snapshots of the beautiful Mandarin ducks living there. We will have a lot of opportunities for taking photos of landscapes, nature, cityscapes and people.

We will meet at the well known Märchenbrunnen (fountain of fairy tales) at the eastern end of the park. Starting there we want to turn southwest on the main loop trail. Our first aim will be the memorial for the soldiers, fallen in the Spanish civil war. From there we turn north, heading for the monument of Prussian king Frederick the Great. We can also take a snapshot or two of a small duck pond of the open air cinema nearby. Our next aim will be the big pond in the park and the Peace Bell. It’s a small, Japanese looking temple with a big bell, which reminds of the nuclear bombs of Hiroshima and Nagasaki at the end of World War II.

If we still have some spare time and power, we can climb onto Bunker Hill in the center of the park. On top of the hill we could enjoy a rare view over Berlin. Otherwise we could close our Photowalk and take a cup of coffee or a meal at Restaurant Schoenbrunn, near the pond. On our way we'll have time for chatting about photography or other things in life.
