spend a fun packed day with the group by driving the picturesque and photogenic Route 100 in Vermont.
Yankee Magazine has this to say about Route 100:
Route 100 is a restless road. As it salamanders its way through the mountainous middle of Vermont, it seems perpetually on the verge of decision, only to change its mind in a mile.
One minute, it's slaloming along a rocky riverbed through dense cover of birch and maple; the next, it's soaring up to a sudden vista as if God has suddenly pulled away a curtain. There's a reason this stretch of highway -- some 200 miles from Massachusetts to Lake Memphremagog -- has been called the most scenic in New England.
We will meet at 10am at The New England Culinary Institute's Brioche Bakery on Main Street in Montpelier and after a lunch we will drive Route 100 South stopping at several locations along the way with possible visits to:
· Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream Factory, Waterbury--Are you an ice cream lover? Then the Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream Factory on Route 100 is the place for you. Take a tour of this quirky place, then taste some of the best ice cream in New England from one of their picnic tables.
· Cold Hollow Cider Mill, Waterbury Center--A charming, old-fashioned cider mill and gift shop in quaint Waterbury Center, Cold Hollow is often packed during the fall, and for good reason; it is an institution of sorts in this part of Vermont.
· Moss Glen Falls, Granville--A large and sometimes overpowering waterfall just south of Warren, Moss Glen Falls is particularly impressive after heavy rains. This falls is right on Route 100, so you can't miss it.
· Vermont Country Store, Weston--Known throughout the country, the Vermont Country Store is just off the village green in beautiful Weston, and is a place that you can easily spend hours in.
We will also stop off aloing the way to photograph the scenery and magnificent Green Mountain vistas.
Ian will be running this as a photo-shoot and workshop with his usual blend of instruction and advice to enable you to get the best shots. You are required to provide your own transport, although limited car-pooling may be available from Weymouth.
The group size is limited to 8 and the cost is $75.
If you are willing to car pool please indicate in your response.
This will be a very full day and we don't expect to return to the Boston Area until late at night.
