Full Moon Adult Grape Juice and Cheese hike

It should be a very nice evening for this. Moonrise is supposed to occur around 7:10pm and we found a perfect spot to watch.

If you are a frequent hiker, the hike out isn't too strenuous; it's not a fitness hike. However, it is uphill most of the way and we do gain decent altitude AND it will be hot; it's WAY more than just a walk in the park, so evaluate your abilities. It is just under 2 miles to reach our picnic area and we'll stop and at least watch the moon rise maybe 30 minutes to an hour at that location before starting back.

Bring whatever you would like to consume... suggestions are cheese and crackers, fruit, vegetables, beef jerky, chocolate, rice crispie treats, pork rinds, pea soup, caviar, bucket of chicken (original recipe), pizza, pickles, olives, cottage cheese, sushi, edamame, donuts, chili, chicken and waffles, pop tarts, twinkies, tacos, cheetos, chili-cheese dog, cream of wheat, white castle, etc.. Of course, no glassware or breakables but juice boxes and plastic cups are fine. Be cautious... grape juice can ferment if left too long in the container!

You all probably already know how to get to Dreamy Draw Park... most online map programs don't give very good directions at all for this location. To keep it simple, here are your directions, from SR-51, go East on Northern Avenue until you reach the parking lot. Easy!

Note that this IS a hike, but the area can also be reached by mountain bike for those with intermediate+ technical skills.

We typically will wait 5 minutes past GO time for those who RSVP "Yes". If you're lost or going to be late, call me[masked] and we'll wait or make arrangements for you to find us.

We meet in the Dreamy Draw recreation area parking lot. Directions are in the description. The hike is in the park...route is posted below. We take 220/100/1a trails to get to the VOAZ Loop up to our picnic area.

Haven't done this before, but I'll try riding my bike instead of hiking. Will anyone else be biking this?

    September 18, 2013

    • Jim

I don't know of anyone else biking it. No one has before...but don't let that stop you. Sounds like fun...and you might get more to do it the next time.

If don't owe a bike, does that mean you won't be my friend? :-(

      You don't need a bike for this one - it's a hike ;)
