Spring shawl exchange

Alright knitters! I have made the very difficult decision.....there were LOTS of great pattern suggestions!  This years pattern is Betiko, by a local designer, Lee Meredith.  Thank you Peregrine for the great examples and to Emily for the suggestion.

Here is a link to the ravelry page to purchase the pattern: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/betiko

Please explore the ravelry site for inspiration.  I chose this pattern for it's many options and versatility.  It is a little bit of everything and a whole lot of style.

Please purchase the pattern and yarn.  The total cost for this project should be around $35 to $45. Please bring any extra yarn with your final project.  No need to wrap but please do block your shawl.

I have also pushed the date of our event to the end of April to give you an additional 2 weeks. Don't forget the yarn crawl is next weekend! Lots of opportunities to pick up some beautiful yarn!

Questions? Just ask!

~Happy Knitting~

A fun shawl to make! I really appreciated having the group motivation and help along the way. And the nice bonus: taking home someone else's beautiful work!

Hi all- so, try as I might, section 4 is just not done... Of course I had to design my own pattern for section 4, which takes twice as long... and I'm just not gonna spend my whole birthday frantically knitting! I'll come tonight, but me and my 9/10ths of a shawl will be spectators. Photos coming shortly...

Not gonna lie: the last 72 hours has been stressful for me. I'm sure it won't be completely dry when I show up tonight. :p

I just finished and am going to block before bed. Nothing like being down to the wire!

I decided to just block the whole thing including the edging :)

I want opinions on blocking - I like the 3d texture of the edging and was thinking about blocking just the main part of the shawl - should I include the edge as well? Once I figure out how to post photos you'll see what I mean :)

Finished and not happy with the shawl. I am toying with dropping out......

I think we all felt that way initially, it'll be great :)

Hi :) I am having trouble with this pattern - it seems jumbled up - anyone have time to help me get it straight? I think I have finished section 1, but when "finishing" section 2 (I thought I was following the directions) it, a, doesn't look right...

Maybe we could do a weekend afternoon coffee meetup? I just finished one but I'm starting another already :) The pattern does read strangely, a lot of it is having faith in the designer and going for it!

Emily & Mary- When do you wanna get together for coffee and going over the pattern?

Is this a closed or open meet up?

    March 3, 2014

    • jacki

Sure. Are they making the shawl or just coming tho hang out?

      March 7, 2014

    • Laura C.

      Just coming to hang out

I'm making a "cliff notes" version of the garter edged medium pattern for worsted/DK on 7 or 8 needles, so a friend with pattern anxiety can participate. Let me know if you want a copy, and please DO buy the pattern so that the designer gets paid and so you can use it later :D

There are size options. What size do I make?

    February 21, 2014

    • jacki

What ever size you would like as long as the value of the final product is comparable to $35 to $45 ( including the $6 pattern) :-)
