Beginner's Bent Creek Ride
Every Monday night there will be a beginner-friendly trail ride in Bent Creek at the Rice Pinnacle parking area that leaves at 6:00PM. This ride provides a welcoming environment for anyone who might be uncomfortable on intermediate or advanced rides. While we'll use gravel roads to connect trails, our focus will be on learning to have fun and improve skills on singletrack. Where we ride and what we do will be determined by who shows up and what we want to learn and explore. Questions from "How do I change a flat tire?" to "How do I ride over a log?" are encouraged and impromptu mini-clinics or sessioning (practicing) trail features might happen. Details: • A mountain bike is required - bikes with skinny tires are dangerous on trails. • Helmets are required and biking gloves are recommended. • Please bring your own water, snacks, and a spare inner tube. • If bad weather is predicted we'll post a cancellation by 3:00PM. • We'll leave the lot at 6:00PM: it'd be best to be there by 5:45PM! • We'll try to time our rides to end just before it gets too dark to ride. • Parking is limited. Arriving early and carpooling are recommended! • Ride is entirely at your own risk. You assume all responsibility for your own well-being. Directions: From 191 Brevard Rd. turn on to Bent Creek Ranch Road, follow the sign to Lake Powhatan, and stay left onto Wesley Branch Road. You will pass by the service and member entrance to the NC Arboretum on your left. You will enter the Bent Creek Experimental Forest. The first road on your right is Rice Pinnacle. Turn there to park.

What we're about

The Pisgah Area Mountain Biking Meetup is a networking group specifically setup to get people together that enjoy the sport of mountain biking. It is a way of introducing people to new areas and new trails. It is an opportunity to be around others who can share what they have learned and everyone can gain new skills and confidence in the sport. We will be offering rides for all individuals, beginners to advanced, children to senior citizens. Everyone is welcome and no one will be left behind unless the ride description states otherwise. Each ride will follow the standard guidelines of the Ride Level Description (http://www.meetup.com/Pisgah-Area-Mountain-Biking-Asheville-Hendersonville-brevard/pages/Ride_Level_Descriptions/) page. If you would like to become an assistant organizer and host your own group ride please visit the Guidelines for Assistant Organizer page. If your business or organization would like to become a sponsor of this meetup group please visit our How to Become a Sponsor (http://www.meetup.com/Pisgah-Area-Mountain-Biking-Asheville-Hendersonville-brevard/pages/How_to_be_a_Sponsor/) page for all the details.

The Pisgah area is made up of Asheville, Hendersonville and Brevard. We have in our own backyard some of the best mountain bike trails in the country. So find a meetup at your skill level and join us on the trails for some fun.
