This is a SPECIAL TRIC Skate, Saturday morning, May 25th for the first OPEN STREETS Pittsburgh event of the season. We will meet at the Liberty School yard in Shadyside. (Same place as the Wednesday Skate).
This will be an ADVANCED BEGINNERS level skate. The route is 4 1/2 miles on CLOSED city streets of Shadyside, East Liberty, Point Breeze, Larimar and Homewood. NO vehicle traffic allowed. This will be a casual, social skate and is NOT a race. There will be entertainment, activities, food, and many more things to see and do along the route. This is a great opportunity to skate the streets with NO vehicle traffic.
This Advanced Beginners Skate is for those who can brake and skate with confidence and are ready to improve their skills. Ability to skate small hills and some street traffic as there will be cyclists, walkers, runners, and others on the streets. Skate lasts from about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Streets will be closed to ALL traffic. The total skate is about 6 to 7 miles similar to a Wednesday skate. This is a patrolled skate.
Cyclists are welcome to join us on the skate.
Helmets and wrist guards required as a minimum on all skates.
All skates are weather permitting. If the streets are dry we should be skating!
