This route includes mostly bike trails and a few neighborhood roads. Check out the map. We will follow the 36 bikeway leaving and use our "Club Detour" coming back. This route is great for first time riders. It is about as flat as you can find in the north metro area. We really welcome new riders to our group. We will leave the shop and ride the club detour around the 36 Bikeway slide. Then jump back on the 36 bikeway all the way to 72nd. Continue south through the Westminster High School parking lot and over to Lowell. After a little ways on Lowell, we will jog over to Tennyson and enter the Clear Creek Tail heading west. We will exit the trail at the Swiss Society Club and head south on Pierce to 26th. Passing Sloan's Lake we will jog over to 23nd and take a short break at Starbucks Confluence Park. Bring a few $ if you think you might need a Frap or iced mocha to get ya back home! We will then ride the South Platte trail until it intersects with the Clear Creek Trail. Here we will turn west towards the mountains and ride to Tennyson and backtrack to the shop. Confusing...no problem...just hang with the group. We really welcome new riders to our group. We will leave the shop and follow our group detour to the Highway 36 Bikeway heading south, all the way to 72nd. After a little ways on Lowell, we will jog over to Tennyson and enter the Clear Creek Tail heading west. We will take a short break at the Wheat Ridge Rec Center to refill our water bottles, then continue west on Clear Creek. Just before Tabor Lake is a gap in the fence which will take us on a tour of the new rail stops for the G line, the Arvada Field House and the highlight of the route...the Arvada Cemetery!!! A few more jogs will position us for our climb up CARR HILL!!! After a few false summits our assault team (that's you) will reach the peak and, scream down the north face of Carr, Club Crest and Independence back to the shop!!! We will take our standard detour to Big Dry Creek Trail and ride west for a short distance. Then riding a few roads (and parking lots) will bring us to the summit of Carr Hill!!! (How conveniently he left out the part about climbing Independence and Club Crest...) But wait...we always CLIMB Carr hill??? Not this time! We will head south "DOWN" Carr Hill to Brooks Drive. Then west on our little route past the ARVADA CEMETERY to start getting us in the mood for Halloween! Things are going to get a little confusing here as we ride our regular route BACKWARDS to our secret gap in the fence to the Clear Creek Trail. After cruising east on the Clear Creek Trail, we will stop for a short break at the Wheat Ridge Rec Center to refill our water bottles. Then continue east to Tennyson and back to the shop. Lost ya??? No worry, this is a no drop ride and ya just gotta ride with the group! We really welcome new riders to our group. So this Saturday let's ride west to the Ralston Switchbacks and then the west end of the Clear Creek Trail. We will leave the shop and ride our club detour to the Highway 36 Bike Way to Big Dry Creek Trail. Heading west until we cross under Wadsworth which brings us to our first climb of the day, Independence! When we hit 88th, we will turn right and enjoy Standley Lake (just the view, no swimming) til we head down Indiana a short ways to Leyden. Then Quaker to 72nd to the Ralston Trail and our second climb of the day, the East Switchbacks. Stopping for a stunning view of the front range, and then a dizzying decent down the West Switchbacks, we will head south on Easley to the Clear Creek Trail which is almost...but no quite to Golden!!! After cruising east on the Clear Creek Trail, we will stop for a short break at the Wheat Ridge Rec Center to refill our water bottles. then continue east to Tennyson and back to the shop.
