What we're about

Public Group

The American Sewing Guild is a national non-profit organization dedicated to advancing sewing as an art and life skill. Its purpose is to provide information, education, and programs for its members and the community. Membership in the guild is open to the public. Benefits of joining the ASG include a subscription to Notions, the national quarterly publication, and to our Plano Chapter newsletter. You will also receive discounts to various retailers, including JoAnn stores and Hancock Fabrics; and, you will meet and make friends with others who have an enthusiasm for sewing. The Plano Chapter was formed on October 16, 2004. As we continue to grow, Neighborhood Groups will develop to provide localized meetings for smaller groups with special interests. GROUP MEETINGS Neighborhood Groups are the heart of the chapter. These groups meet monthly to learn and share ideas with others who sew. Members have lots of fun making projects for themselves as well as charitable projects like Christmas stockings, blankets, cancer caps, toy bears and much more. Neighborhood Groups activities also include presentations by other members or retailers, field trips to fabric stores, help with fitting problems, and other programs determined by each individual group.
