Really enjoyed this spot. We are very spoiled with the wonderful choices organised for us. We issued you Jen and hope you are feeling much better soon. Quite a chilly winters day but very peaceful interesting scene and outgoing tide uncovered a beautiful lattice of silvery threads amongst the pitted mudflats and grounded yachts.

'Sitting on the dock of the bay watching the tide roll away' (ref Otis Redding). Changing sky and bay made for an exciting days painting. Thanks for cake Jen and get well soon.

Sending apologies ... very sore this morning shoulders seized up overnight, thought I could make it, but no. Please have a wonderful day's painting - can't wait to hear all about it.
David is going to sign everyone off and also hand out a little something I made for the day plus He and Kim taking photos. Due to not being my usual self, hope did not transfer onto the little goodies. First time for me not arriving! Wishing everyone a great day. j

... for those who attend these days plein air, and complete paintings either on the day, or finish at home ... would be great to have you show your support of the group by posting your work on this site. Lots of time goes in to finding places to paint etc, and to see your appreciation of this by posting completed work would be welcomed, not just by myself, but by all. Also keeps our site nice and current and 'things going on'.

We have a couple of members who usually post. However, we need others also. It may/may not match up to your studio work -we are all here to learn and get better and is a great way also to view your progress. Also a good avenue to promote yourself.
    Thanks all.

Thanks to Russell for his comments below on this. He knows location very well. For the Sunday, Firstly... please all meet at the carpark to let us know you have arrived, and sign in your arrival, be introduced to others, then take the time to have a look around.

Remember... if you RSVP and do not arrive/sign in, then the site shows you as a no-show on your profile page. Therefore, if you cannot make the day, remember to change your RSVP status.

Look fwd to meeting all then, and to welcome the new people at their first day out with us.
    See you there. j

And another point. if you are going down to the actual bay to paint you will need waterproof shoes as when the tide is fully in it comes right up to properties whose boundaries are on the bay, and as the tide receeds it is very wet and muddy. Be warned. LOL

As I have painted there countless times I'd like to make the following suggestion. Yes the Carpark on the waterfront is good with ample parking, however the best place is to park at the end of Rawene Avenue. There are a set of steps leading down to Coxs Bay and in my opinion it is far better to paint from there., as you get a better viewpoint with boats etc and the view to the Sugar Refinery. Please Note you can't get down to the beach area from the main Carpark overlooking the Bay. However there are good views from there looking out to the North shore and right up the Harbour past Meola reef towards Te Atatu. I just thought that posting this would give everyone an idea.

Russell recommends to wear wet weather footwear (ie gumboots etc), as tide will be in and when going out can be very wet/muddy if wishing to get to certain locations to paint from.
