What we're about

Polar Bear has been going since 2012 and has been running on Facebook since 2013 and have just now (2018) joined Meetup. We play on weekends from Nov-Mar. 3'-6' Lob, 65' bases & CoEd!!! Generally we play triple headers (min), 5 innings (so that those waiting aren't waiting too long) with a 1-1 count. For those of you that are familiar with the Bronx Meetup, we use what is refered to as The Bronx walk rule BUT with a Polar Bear tweak. The rule is if a batter gets walked without receiving a strike, he/she will have a designated runner placed on 2B (Polar Bear tweak. Bronx 1B), while runners on base only advance via the force and and the batter will bat again with a fresh count. Remember, this is a pickup, not a league, everyone wants an opportunity to hit and have FUN! Women here are treated as equals and play by the same rules as the men. The first 22 that check in will play in game 1 while the next 11 play the winner in game 2. Upon arrival check in with Spider or Naomi to pay your fee of $2 per person to cover the cost of new Clinchers. Just because your groups are done for the year doesn't mean softball is done. Real ballers play winter ball. If you build it, they will come.
