Yes or NO? I am a left leaner and not a supporter of the Republican President. (If you are not a left leaner, this group is not right for you because our members want to socialize with "like minded" thinkers and lovers of Democracy)

I want to join this group because, despite the fact that this country's citizens elected Barack Obama president 3 1/2 years ago, I find myself once again keeping my lips zipped when conversations turn to politics. Has "I'm a liberal Democrat" once again become a verbal kick me sign? It seems that way to me.

What are your hopes for this group? Education? Friendship? Socializing? Action? Etc.

I actually want to learn more about politics, to be honest. Being in graduate school for three years, I kind of fell out of touch with much of what is going on. And, of course, I want to make new friends. For me, Meet-Ups are always really about socializing most of all.

I have just moved back to the Twin Cities after completing an MA in French at Northwestern and it's time for a normal adult social life. I confess: my favorite U.S. president was a Republican! (Abraham Lincoln). Hope I haven't disqualified myself!
